I had a busy July and August which resulted in not all of my buys and sells getting a blog entry. I think to make things easier going forward I’m going to save the routine moves for a larger monthly or quarterly update post but continue to post the exceptions at the end of the [...]
Ray, I’m curious… it sounds as if you are an active trader. How do you keep your transaction costs down? Also what about keeping track of everything for tax purposes (or is this all within a Roth)? Also, what are your net gains for being so aggressive, how do your gains or losses compare with [...]
Added to NLY one of my favorite dividend holdings in my IRA
My RHT continued down after the recent spike and following what I previously decided I sold my Red Hat for a 10% gain this morning. That’s the last of the non-dividend paying stock in my IRA except for Apple. I’ll buy back into Red Hat in my other account if it continues down another 10%. [...]
I would have waited a couple more days before picking up my additional NLY. I didn’t notice that the ex-dividend date listed on Yahoo was wrong (not updated) and showing 2010-12-23 I should stick with checking Scottrade or some other resource before doing anything with my dividend paying stocks.
I sold my F5 today for a 14% loss and used the money to add onto my NLY. That’s the last of the pure tech in my IRA. I’ll take another look at F5 another 10% down from now to see how it’s doing. Hopefully I didn’t sell at the low (doubt it). I’m thinking [...]
This was an unexpected set of trades this morning. One of my old price alerts went off because FTR opened below $8 and down over 13%. On the spot at 9:30pm I quickly dumped my OXPS (made ~8% for the couple weeks I had it) and had a tough time getting into Frontier. I was [...]
It’s been getting a little tough to track all of the companies I’m holding outside of my VFORX. MO has been on my sell radar for a little while now. I didn’t want to let go since it was putting out around an 8% dividend against the price I bought in at. I sold for [...]
After selling my FTR I picked up some Ford Preferred (FpS) @ $55.28 In addition to the continued growth of Ford it sports almost a 6% dividend!
I got into AA late this morning after the early jump sold off back to yesterdays close. Reasons I bought : 1) More diversification + a small dividend 2) I have had a good history with stocks Cramer mentions as a buy almost daily. Reasons I’d sell: 1) I’m looking to get at least $22/share [...]
